Researchers have discovered a neural circuit in our brain that activates the stress response. This information can lead to new information in addressing disorders such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Depression. There is a small structure in our brain locus coeruleus that when under stress, neurons in that region secrete a hormone. Researchers discovered that they could selectively control the firing of these neurons in experiments conducted on mice. This may allow the blocking of neural activity related to stress and stressful events. Click here for more
