It’s always important to make healthy diet choices, and according to research, blueberries can help memory and cognitive function overall.

The study was performed on 47 older adults with mild cognitive impairment. Some individuals were given a blueberry powder for 16 weeks, while the other half of people were given a placebo.

Professor Robert Krikorian, who led the research, explains: “There was improvement in cognitive performance and brain function in those who had the blueberry powder compared to those who took the placebo. The blueberry group demonstrated improved memory, and improved access to words and concepts.”

After further studies were performed, it appears that blueberries are better for those who already have impairments, versus those who are already healthy.
