You Cannot Cure a Loved Ones Substance Use Disorder

You Cannot Cure A Loved Ones Substance Abuse Problem

Substance use loved one

Substance use disorder is a disease, and only the user can choose whether or not to heal. Healing is possible, even if the disease can’t be cured. To heal, we need to recognize the responsibility to make healthier life choices that belong to the user’s hands. We can support and encourage our loved ones.  Education about substance use disorder and the process of recovery is available through books, websites, recovery programs, treatment providers, treatment programs, and other resources. . Working together with your family and supporting them in their journey is possible.

It is important to know that your recovery can occur with or without the substance user. Recognizing that you have options on your journey allows you to grow and develop ways to manage the difficulties that occur with substance use disorder. There is hope in recovery.
